Larry Hill, D.D.S., M.P.H

Myron Allukian Jr. Lifetime Achievement Award for Outstanding Contributions in Community Dental Programs 2006 RecipientDr. Hill

During his career, Dr. Hill has served as dental director for the Cincinnati Health Department and a local nonprofit agency. In those capacities he has overseen the implementation of community water fluoridation, designed and built more than 80 dental treatment rooms, and launched a dental office volunteer program that generates more than $1 million of care annually. In addition, he initiated a model school-based dental sealant program and worked with school nurses to identify and refer children in need of oral health care. As a result of this program, 91 percent of inner-city elementary-school-age children needing treatment received care, and those with untreated oral disease decreased from 28 percent to 16 percent. He also built one of the largest oral health programs for people who are homeless. Dr. Hill was the first oral health professional to serve as president of the Ohio School Based Health Care Association; was a founding board member of the National Network for Oral Health Access; and served as a founding board member, president, and executive director of AACDP.
