Myron Allukian Jr. served as the dental director for Boston, MA, for 34 years. In that position he was instrumental in developing or supporting 19 health center oral health programs and was involved with oral health policy-making on the state and national levels. His career achievements include implementing one of the country’s first oral health programs for individuals who are homeless, helping to restore adult dental care coverage under Massachusetts’ Medicaid program, and arranging for community water fluoridation for the 33 cities and towns of Greater Boston. Dr. Allukian has served as president of the American Association of Public Health Dentistry, the American Board of Dental Public Health, and the American Public Health Association. He is currently treasurer of the North East Regional Board of Dental Examiners and is a member of the faculty at Boston University School of Dental Medicine, Harvard School of Dental Medicine, and Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He is also a member of the National Academy of Sciences, Institute of Medicine.
