This session
will include information relevant to state and community
dental programs or individuals. The session will include speakers
from select states and the Children’s Dental Health Project
(CDHP) on efforts
to increase access to care for children and/or families. CDHP
will share highlights from a national perspective on how positive
changes in legislation, policy, workforce expansion or innovative
initiatives have served to expand oral health care to their populations.
The session will end with time for dialogue, questions
and comments. |

will describe promising models that utilize standardized assessments
by dental hygienists as an entryway to the oral health care system
and the use of collaboration to establish a dental home for children
enrolled in Head Start programs. The challenges faced and lessons
learned in establishing these models will also be addressed. |

will look at the local impact of changing practice acts with

The annual symposium
is held as a pre-conference session to the National
Oral Health Conference. The National Oral Health Conference is
sponsored by the Association of State
and Territorial Dental Directors, the American
Association of Public Health Dentistry, the Health
Resources and Services Administration and the Centers
for Disease Control and Prevention.

Stipend Information
A limited number
of partial stipends may be available to assist with your expenses.
First priority will be given to those who attend the full Sunday
session and stay through Wednesday. You must attend the Sunday AACDP
meeting to be eligible. More information will be available soon.
